Vehicles get old, and their lift supports lose the
original charge. Therefore, they cannot support the weight of the
glass, liftgate, hatch, trunk, or hood they are designed to open
and support. Accidents are also a major cause of lift support to
fail; if damaged or bent, the seals often become damaged. You can
tell if your lift supports are not working properly if the part
of your vehicle they are supporting required more than normal effort
to lift and open.
Both lift supports must be replaced since it is not
possible to tell which one is damaged. If the wrong lift support
is replaced, your new Lift Supports will work improperly and deteriorate
prematurely.
